Real Wedding | Savannah Art Museum Wedding Reception

Sweetheart wedding table with neon sign

nThe Design Studio South team worked with Katie and Kevin for their Savannah Art Museum wedding at the Jepson Center. After a very traditional Roman Catholic wedding ceremony at the Cathedral of St. John The Baptist, everyone headed to Jepson Center for a non-traditional wedding reception with bright and bold details.

Unique Savannah Wedding Venue

The Jepsen Center is by far one of the most unique Savannah wedding venues. This Savannah museum wedding venue is located in the heart of the Savannah Historic District and is far from historic. The modern and contemporary building was built in 2006 and is home to several permanent and traveling art exhibits. We love the state-of-the-art design in this building which acts as a clean canvas for any creative couple and their wedding design.

A Non-Traditional Wedding Reception

Katie and Kevin’s wedding reception design was the perfect juxtaposition of bold colors accented with soft dusty colors. The vibrancy of their wedding design came to life against the contrast of the museum’s white and modern architecture.

From the bold bridesmaid dresses to the vibrant linens and colorful lounges, color was incorporated everywhere. Some of our favorite details included the custom-made neon wedding sign that was part of the sweetheart table and colorful vintage furniture.

For this Savannah art museum wedding, our couple wanted to take a non-traditional wedding approach to their reception. For example, instead of dancing later in the evening, the couple went straight into their intro and first dance after their grand entrance. They then encouraged guests to join them on the dance floor. Instead of the traditional buffet or plated meal, the couple opted for a collection of passed appetizers and fun food stations. Later in the night, we transitioned the food stations from fun entrees like the taco bar to savory stations like a biscuit bar.

It was a beautiful day for Katie and Kevin’s nuptials and non-traditional wedding reception. Their Savannah art museum wedding was a great reflection of how fun and loving this couple was. We loved working in a modern space with bright and bold colors to play with.
