Deciding on your wedding design can be confusing and stressful. We get it! Do you go modern and trendy or timeless and classic or go entirely out of the box? There is no straightforward answer on how to decide which wedding design is right for you. However, we have a few tips that will help you and your fiancé along the way!
Four Tips To Identifying Your Wedding Design Style
1. Stop looking at Pinterest
As much as we LOVE Pinterest (we honestly do- be sure to follow along with us on Pinterest at @designstudiosouth), there is a time and place for cruising the internet for inspiration. Pinterest is an excellent resource for looking for ideas or examples on a specific topic. But, it can be extremely overwhelming when you are narrowing down your overall design style. If you do not yet know your overall style, you will most likely get distracted and confused about your style by all the beautiful photos. So, here you are, 1000’s of pins later, and you have a wedding planning board with beautiful individual photos that do not create one cohesive style.

2. Consider incorporating your favorite colors into your wedding design
When you choose a wedding color palette based on your favorite colors, it is often no surprise to friends and family, as these colors are a true reflection of who you are as a couple. We recommend considering your favorite colors and thinking about how you can incorporate them into your wedding design. From timeless details to pops of color here and there, there is no limit to incorporating color. We want you to feel comfortable embracing color rather than shy away from it.
Our bride did just that! We worked with her to infuse some of her favorite colors into her wedding design, and she was still able to have a timeless wedding!

3. Pull inspiration from your favorite brands
When deciding your wedding design style, a fun activity is to think about is what you like and dislike in your favorite brands. Take note of your favorite stores and think about how you can pull inspiration from them. For example, are you a Lulu and George fan or more of a CB2 fan? Maybe you love certain aspects of the Anthropologie brand, and your personal style reflects this. Don’t be afraid to pull design inspiration from your favorite brands into your wedding day!
4. Decide what your top three priorities are
It’s easy to get swept away by wanting the best of everything! But sometimes, the best of everything is not always feasible, nor does it always create a cohesive wedding design. Early on in the wedding planning process, we recommend you sit down with your fiancé and discuss your top three most important priorities. These priorities will play a huge factor in your overall budget and wedding design style. For example, if the venue, food, and music are part of your top three, you may need to simplify your wedding design. A simplified design will allow you to focus attention (and budget) on what is important to you and still allow for an amazing event!
With this bride, we were able to “trim the fat” yet still capture a beautiful and timeless wedding!
